Schools Closed in Doda Due to Heavy Rain; Online Classes to Continue

Doda, July 29: The District Administration has ordered the closure of all government and private schools in Doda district on Wednesday, July 29, due to continuous heavy rainfall and deteriorating weather conditions. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school staff.

Despite the suspension of physical classes, all schools have been directed to continue academic activities through online mode so that students’ education is not affected. School authorities have been instructed to conduct virtual classes according to the regular timetable and keep students informed of any further updates.

The administration said the closure was necessary in view of the persistent rainfall, the possibility of landslides, flash floods, and unsafe road conditions, particularly in hilly and vulnerable areas of the district. Residents have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official weather advisories.

Meanwhile, schools in most parts of Kishtwar district have also been closed because of similar weather conditions, with online classes continuing there as well.

Parents have been urged not to send their children to schools until fresh orders are issued by the authorities. Students should regularly check updates from their respective schools regarding online classes and reopening.

The latest order comes days after the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) instructed schools across the Jammu division to remain prepared for a temporary shift to online classes whenever adverse weather or emergency situations disrupt normal classroom teaching.

Authorities are continuously monitoring the weather situation, and any further decision regarding the reopening of schools will be announced through official channels.
