UGC NET June 2026 Re-Exam: NTA Announces Fresh Exams for English, Commerce & Sociology

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a re-conduct of the UGC NET June 2026 examination for English, Commerce and Sociology after an expert committee identified multiple issues in the question papers. The official UGC-NET website has published the re-conduct notice.

UGC NET June 2026

UGC NET 2026 Re-Exam Schedule

Subject Re-Exam Date Shift Timing
English September 9, 2026 Shift 1 9:00 AM–12:00 Noon
Commerce September 9, 2026 Shift 2 3:00 PM–6:00 PM
Sociology September 10, 2026 Shift 1 9:00 AM–12:00 Noon

The re-examination will apply to candidates who appeared for these three subjects in the June 2026 cycle. No additional examination fee will be charged for the re-test.

Why is NTA Conducting the Re-Exam?

The decision follows complaints from candidates and an inquiry into the three question papers. The committee identified factual, typographical, language and translation-related errors, along with concerns about repeated questions from earlier examinations. NTA determined that the problems were significant enough that they could not be adequately resolved simply by dropping individual questions during answer-key processing.

What About the Other UGC NET Subjects?

The re-examination is limited to English, Commerce and Sociology. The remaining 84 subjects from the June 2026 examination are not being re-conducted, and their result process remains separate.

Admit Card and Exam Centre Details

Candidates appearing for the re-examination should wait for NTA’s separate announcements regarding:

  • Examination city intimation
  • Exam centre details
  • Fresh admit cards
  • Other examination instructions

NTA has advised candidates to regularly check the official UGC-NET website for updates.
