According to the SelfStudys report:
- ₹1,000 — Female candidates and SC/ST/PwD candidates
- ₹2,000 — Other candidates
Additional charges such as payment-processing or bank charges may apply.
DigiLocker Requirement
One of the important changes for GATE 2027 is the DigiLocker-related verification requirement. Candidates should make sure their DigiLocker details are properly set up before starting the application process.
What Candidates Should Prepare
Before registration opens, candidates should keep their:
- Recent photograph
- Signature
- Valid identification/document details
- Educational qualification information
- Category certificate, where applicable
- DigiLocker account/details
- Active mobile number and email ID
- Payment method
SC/ST/PwD candidates need the relevant category certificate to claim the application-fee concession, while OBC-NCL/EWS candidates do not need to upload a category certificate according to the official FAQ.
GATE 2027 Exam
GATE 2027 will offer 30 test papers. The examination will be conducted on six dates across three weekends in February 2027.
A new Robotics paper is also part of the GATE 2027 updates, alongside syllabus revisions announced by IIT Madras.
Why GATE 2027 Is Important
A valid GATE score can be used for applications to various Master’s and doctoral programmes, and GATE qualification can also provide access to financial assistance in eligible programmes. GATE scores may additionally be used by some PSUs and other institutions for recruitment. However, qualifying GATE does not automatically guarantee admission, scholarship or a PSU job.
Bottom line: Candidates planning to appear for GATE 2027 should be ready before August 14, especially with their DigiLocker setup and application documents.
